CHALLENGES AHEAD
The integrated approach demands NT must be concentrated with both right defence and livelihoods/community banking
People's organizations can survive and flourish if NT addresses the core activities of federations. The everyday business of savings and credit and livelihood promotions.
CBOs could address both right defence and livelihoods promotion.
Two types of CBOs one for addressing livelihoods/community banking and the other for addressing rights defence.
They must be interconnected.
Directors of DSSSs keep on changing.
NT IV Phase
TASOSS has been implementing NT programme since a decade. The nine years programme paved the way for emergence of self reliant and self sustainable federations at union and District levels which are on the path to start regional level people's organization.
Federation leaders have grown up at the level of creating Systems and procedures for communication and coordination formed, struggles taken up and leadership development. A very large pan state presence and base for collective action with 4 lakh members of 27000 groups in 8700 villages from 345 Panchayat unions. Federations have voiced against social injustices, economic deprivation, cultural hegemony and political alienation of the oppressed through various strategies and techniques.
The IV phase programme lunched in Dec 2008 with Vision of engaging Excluded communities in public action to demand their rights and to competently avail their knowledge, skills, resources and existing opportunities for defending and enhancing their lives, livelihoods, identities, security and future.
The unique ness of this NT IV phase programme is enabling people to focus their efforts towards achieving their rights as citizen of India and ensuring their livelihood rights
To guide the federations towards the above mentioned ends, It is proposed to form Rights and Livelihood groups at union, district and state level. Efforts will be
Initiated to network with Human rights organization, Financial and Marketing intuitions.
